What is an MRI?

MRI stands for "Magnetic Resonance Imaging", which means: magnetic nuclear resonance imaging. It does not use X-rays for imaging, but the magnetic field, so the patient is not exposed to harmful radiation.

About two-thirds of the human body is water, so MRI is excellent for diagnostics. The test is based on the changed behavior of the fluid fields of the body in a magnetic field, using the natural magnetic factors of our body, and is carried out with the help of a huge external magnet. In our body, diseases cause differences in the water content of tissues and cells, which is how they become visible.

Today, MRI diagnostics has become such a special tool of medicine that greatly helps the doctor in establishing a diagnosis and determining therapy. This examination is currently the most accurate radiological procedure for many indications. It combines the advantages of CT and ultrasound examinations, so they can also be used as a first diagnostic examination.

The blood vessels can be examined very well with this procedure, as well as the brain, abdominal organs, spine, bones and joints, as well as the environment of the thoracic cavity. for example, it can also be used without risk when examining children.
